Hemp in the U.S.

Logo for the Hemp Industries Association

The Hemp Industries Association (HIA) is a non-profit trade association representing businesses, farmers, researchers and investors working with industrial hemp.

The mission of the WA HIA, a membership-based non-profit trade group with group 501(c)(6) status, is to represent the interests of the hemp industry in the State of Washington, from farmers to manufacturers; and to encourage the research and development of new products made from industrial hemp, low-resin oilseed and fiber varieties of Cannabis.

The Industrial Hemp Association of Washington promotes the research and development of Industrial Hemp as an agricultural crop in Washington State as a viable sustainable and renewable natural resource through the Industrial Hemp Research Pilot Program.

Launched in early 2017, the U.S. Hemp Roundtable is a coalition of dozens of hemp companies – representing every link of the product chain, from seed to sale – and all of the industry’s major national grassroots organizations, whose goal is to secure passage of bi-partisan legislation in the U.S. Congress that would establish hemp as an agricultural commodity, and permanently remove it from regulation as a controlled substance.

Hemp Internationally

The European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) has formed itself as an association of Hemp primary processing companies within the EU (regular members). Associate members are associations, national organisations, companies and individuals working in the field of Industrial Hemp or other natural fibres.

Since 1996, HANF FARM GmbH has specialized in the cultivation, processing, and the worldwide marketing of high-quality hemp products. Not least with the goal of reintroducing hemp as a crop plant in Germany and Europe and integrating it into the agricultural system. In doing so, we attach great importance to producing innovative and sustainable products, as well as taking ecological, social and economic aspects into consideration.

Hemporium is a South African hemp company, founded in 1996, that is committed to showcasing all that hemp has to offer by providing quality products made from this eco-friendly and versatile plant. Hemporium is actively lobbying for legislation change in order to allow farmers to grow this beneficial resource so that we can source all our products, from seed to shirt, locally.

Since 1994, HempFlax in Oude Pekela (NL) has focused on the production and processing of locally grown hemp and flax, creating semi-finished and finished products from these renewable resources. In 2012, HempFlax Romania was founded. This furthered our capacity for developing and improving natural fiber products.
